The Kansas City Missouri Police Department DUI Section recently focused extra enforcement efforts on impaired driving laws May 2-5, 2008. Included in this effort was a Wolfpack DUI Saturation Patrol on Cinco De Mayo, 5-5-08, conducted from 2000-0400 hours.

During the Wolfpack, DUI officers, as well as officers from other department elements made 11 DUI arrests, issued 7 Driving While Suspended/Revoked tickets, 17 Hazardous Moving Violations, and 30 Other Traffic Violations. Additionally one subject was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, and 4 subjects arrested for 16 city warrants.

In addition to processing DUI arrests for Patrol Officers, DUI Section Officers conducted enforcement activity resulting inĀ  6 DUI arrests, 21 Hazardous Moving Violations, and 3 Other Traffic Violations from May 2-4.

Driving while intoxicated remains one of the top causes of fatal car crashes in Missouri. In 2006, 273 people in Missouri were killed in more than 7,900 alcohol related crashes. Enforcement efforts like this one help to take impaired drivers off the road and make travel in Missouri safer.
